Parents Newsletter - May 2010

Our half term theme

The theme for this half term is ‘Animals’. We have already learnt lots of new things about minibeasts and farm animals. In the next two  weeks, the children will be building on their existing knowledge about pets and dinosaurs. Week beginning:

17.05.10 Pets

24.05.10 Dinosaurs

New staff

We are delighted to introduce two new members of staff - Lauren and Ruth. Lauren has already spent some time with us as a student but now she is qualified, she is working with us for a couple of sessions per week.

Ruth has previously run a toddler group and Sunday school and has two girls of her own; although unqualified she has bags of experience!

Bring your DAD to pre-school! We will be holding an open afternoon on Friday 18th June.  We would like as many dads as possible to come with their child.  There will be father’s day crafts and games.

Of course, mums are welcome to come too ... as well as grandparents, aunties, uncles and friends.

Half Term Dates We will close for half term on Friday 28th May.  We will begin the next term on Monday 14th June.

This means that we are on holiday for 2 weeks!

Parents Meeting

The next parents meeting will be held on Wednesday 19th May at 9.30am in the Community Room at the school. This is an informal time where staff and parents can jointly contribute ideas about how the pre-school should run. Refreshments are served during the meeting.

Please try to attend!

Meet Hilary the Hedgehog

Our mascot Harry has decided to go on another adventure.  But his cousin, Hilary has come to stay with us.  Would you like to take her home overnight or for a few days?  All we ask is for you to take some photos of your child with Hilary so that we can display them in the room.

We can lend you a camera to use if you wish.

Sun cream and hats

On hot sunny days, could you please remember to put sun cream on your children before they come to pre-school.  Could you also ensure that your child has a sun hat (with their name in!) when the weather is very sunny!

Thank you!

Did you know... The more a father reads to his children, the greater the child’s interest in books later.

Children who have a positive relationship with their fathers often have a higher IQ at the age of 7, 11 and 16!
